Will of Louise Cotter, from Newfoundland will books volume 15 pages 151 & 152 probate year 1930

IN RE.                DECEASED

LOUISE COTTER

THIS is the last will and testament of me Louise Cotter of Saint John's Widow.

  1. I appoint my daughter Catherine Cotter executrix of this my will.
  2. I give devise and bequeath to my daughters Catherine Cotter and Margaret Cotter for all my term thereof as tenants in common my leasehold dwelling house situate on Prescott Street in the town of Saint John's but subject to all rents and other outgoings in respect thereof.
  3. Subject as hereinafter provided I give devise and bequeath to my son Patrick Cotter my leasehold dwelling house situate on Duckworth Street for all my term thereof but subject to all rents and outgoings in respect thereof, provided that my executrix shall hold possession of the said dwelling house and receive the rents thereof until a policy of Insurance upon the life of my said son Patrick issued by the Imperial Life Assurance Company of Canada dated the ninth day of May Anno Domini One thousand nine hundred and eighteen shall be fully paid up or fall due; and shall out of the nett rents of the said dwelling house ( if they shall be sufficient) pay the premiums upon the said policy and pay any balance of the said nett rents to my said daughter Margaret for her own use. Provided also that if before the full payment of the said policy my said son shall marry and desire to live in the said dwelling house my executrix shall deliver possession of the same to him and the provisions of the immediately preceding proviso shall cease.
  4. The sum of three thousand dollars invested by me on mortgage with all interest thereon I also give and bequeath to my said daughters Catherine and Margaret in equal shares.
  5. I also give and bequeath to my said son Patrick my Dominion Atlantic Insurance Company Stock; also five hundred dollars of my Newfoundland Government 4% Debentures.
  6. I direct my executrix to expend the remaining one thousand dollars of my Newfoundland Government 4% Debentures for the education of my daughter Margaret at such times and in such manner as to her shall seem best.
  7. All the rest residue and remainder of my lands, goods, property, estate, moneys, securities, chattels and effects of every description I give devise and bequeath to my said daughters Catherine and Margaret absolutely in equal shares.

WITNESS my hand at Saint John's aforesaid this 15th day of March Anno Domini one thousand nine hundred and thirty.
