Will of Elijah Dawe from Newfoundland will books volume 7 pages 214-217 probate year 1902 The last Will of Elijah Dawe In the name of God. Amen. I Elijah Dawe of Coley's Point Bay Roberts in the Island of Newfoundland, Planter being of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding considering the uncertainty of life do this seventh day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty one make this my last will and Testament in manner following that is to say. To my wife Emma Dawe I will and bequeath one half my dwelling house now in my possession situate at Coley's Point Bay Roberts for the use of herself and my two unmarried daughters Emily and Mary to and for as long as either or both remain unmarried. The remaining half of said dwelling house I give and bequeath to my son John Dawe after my wife his mother having decided on which portion she will occupy. All the furniture now in said dwelling house to remain for the use and benefit of the family dwelling therein until after the decease of my wife Emma Dawe and the marriage of my two daughters Emily and Mary Daw save and except one feather bed and bedding each which I give and bequeath to my two daughters Emily and Mary Daw to be theirs and their heirs forever further my meaning and intention is that the before named property remain in possession of the last named daughter. After the demise of my wife and the marriage of my two daughters Emily and Mary Daw the furniture remaining in the Dwelling House I give and bequeath to my three sons Eli, William and John Daw and my three daughters Susan Parsons (wife of Robert Parsons) Emily Daw and Mary Daw to be equally divided between them share and share alike To my three sons Eli William and John Daw, I give and bequeath all that piece
and parcel of land and water side situated at Coleys Point, to be equally divided
between them share and share alike. And my meaning and intention is that my son
William's share of the land commence at the eastern boundary and that Eli
and John follow towards and end at the western boundary each to have the land on
which their dwelling houses stand Also each to have a proportion or an equal
share of the good water. The land on the neck of Coley's Point as per Bill of
Sale from Mrs Hierlihy, I give and bequeath to my three sons Eli
William and John Daw and my three daughters Susan Parsons Emily
Daw and Mary Daw to be equally
divided between them share and share alike Should either or both of my daughters
think fit to dispose of their share of the land said land is not to be sold outside
the family living on the premises. Further my will and intention is that my wife
Emma Daw during her life and my two daughters Emily
and Mary Daw so long as either
or both remain unmarried shall have the sole use of one half the kitchen garden
and the cleared land or potato ground south of the cellar (which is included
in my son John Daw's share of land) with one milche cow and a sufficient quantity
of hay for the maintenance of the said cow which shall be provided by my three
sons Eli William and John Daw, out of the hay stored in the barn or otherwise.
The house and other cow to remain for the use and benefit of my family living
on the premises. I certify the foregoing to be a correct copy of the last will of Elijah Dawe D. M. Browning (Listed in the margin next to this will the following)
