NEWFOUNDLAND, } AFFIDAVIT You shall swear that you believe this to be the true last Will and Testament of Edward Dunn, late of Saint John's in the Central District of the Island of Newfoundland, Shipwright, deceased. You shall swear that you will pay all the Debts and Legacies of the Deceased, so far as the Goods shall extend and the Law shall bind you; and that you will exhibit a true, full and perfect Inventory of all and every the Goods, Rights and Credits of the deceased, together with a just and true account into the Registry of the Supreme Court of New*(foundland) when you shall be lawfully called thereto: And you shall further swear that *(the whole) of the Goods, Rights, Chattels, Assets, Credits, and Effects of the said Edward Dunn deceased, and of which he died possessed, do not, according to the best of your knowledge, judgment and belief, amount to the value of Six hundred and fifty Dollars So help you God. *torn edges of document. In the name of God, Amen. I, Edward Dunne of Saint John's, Newfoundland, Shipwright, do hereby make and declare this to be my last will and testament, hereby revoking all former last wills and testaments by me at any time heretofore made. Thirdly, I desire my executors - as to them may seem fit - to either sell out my interest in the house at present occupied by me and also the two tennents(sic) under same roof - or to release the same if it may be done so, satisfactorily. The proceeds of such sale, should it take place, to be given to the Roman Catholic Bishop for Saint John's for Church purposes. If leased, then the annual rent derivable therefrom, after the *payment Insurance premium ????vater rates - if any- to be paid unto the Roman Catholic Bishop - for the time being - of Saint John's. I desire, that out of the approaching half year's rental due May 1st, 1885, my Executors shall have a High Mass celebrated for the repose of the souls of myself and wife, in the Cathedral of Saint John's. I give & bequeath unto the Rev. Laurence Vereker, Parish Priest of Ferryland, the best of three silver watches in my possession. I desire my Executors to sell all bedding - bed-steads and all other furniture *proceeds to be given for masses as above. I desire that all of my clothing shall be given to such poor persons as my Executors may think in need of them. I hereby appoint James Sutton and John T. Fitzpatrick, both of Saint John's, my Executors. In witness whereof I, the testator, have hereunto set my hand this third day of March in the Year of Our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Eighty-five. This will has been read over for the testator previous to signing.

Certificate I hereby certify that the within notice has been duly posted in my office from the day of the date thereof to this day and that no caveat or other objection has been entered thereto.
Notice After three days application will be made to the Supreme Court or to one of the Honorable the Judges thereof for Probate of the will of Edward Dunne late of Saint John's, shipwright, deceased, to be granted to John Fitzpatrick, one of the executors under said Will. G.J.A. E. R. Morris
To the Honorable the Supreme Court or to one of the Honorable the Judges thereof The petition of John Fitzpatrick of Saint John's in the island of Newfoundland, Baker, hereby sheweth as follows: That Edward Dunne of Saint John's in the island of Newfoundland aforesaid, shipwright, died at the above place on Monday, the 14th day of June now last past having first made his last will and testament which is hereto annexed, proved upon the oath of David Kenny, one of the subscribing witnesses to the same. That under the said will your Petitioner and James Sutton of Saint John's, aforesaid Boot and Shoe maker were appointed Executors. That said deceased, though married left no children - a wife after him - his wife being some ????? ???? & he never had any children. That at the time of his death deceased was possessed of property within the jurisdiction of this Honorable Court of the probable value of sic hundredand fifty pounds equal to $600.00. That neither probate to any will nor administration to the Estate and effects
of said deceased has as yet been granted to any person. Your petitioner therefore prays the probate of the said annexed last will and testament of the said Edward Dunne may be granted to him as one of the said Executors and as in duty bound he will ever pray.
