Newfoundland } AFFIDAVIT. You shall swear that you believe this to be the true Last Will and Testament of Gregory Griffin late of Saint Johns in the Central District of Newfoundland Farmer deceased. You shall swear that you will pay all the Debts and Legacies of the Deceased; so far as the Goods shall extend and the Law shall bind you ; and that you will exhibit a true, full and perfect Inventory of all and every the Goods, Rights and Credits of the deceased,together with a just and true account into the Registry of the Su-preme Court of Newfoundland, when you shall be lawfully called thereto: And you shall further swear that the whole of the Goods, Rights, Chattels, Assets, Credits and Effects of the said Gregory Griffin Deceased, and of which he -------- died possessed, do not, according to the best of your knowledge, judgment and belief, amount to the value of three hundred -------------------- Dollars. first made and executed his last will and testament
as hereto annexed and which will has been duly
proved in common form. That so far as your Petitioner
is aware the said Testator left no relatives him
surviving in this Colony except one Walter Lane of St Johns aforesaid fisherman who, as this

I Gregory Griffin of St John's Farmer do make publish and declare this as and for my last will and testament. I direct that all my just debts funeral and testamentary expenses shall be paid . I give devise and bequeath to the Very Rev-erend John Ryan of St Patricks Riverhead St Johns the sum of Five pounds for Masses For the repose of my soul- I give devise and bequeath to Mary Flynn my servant all my household furniture, beds, bedding, watch, gun, and other chattels and effects in my dwelling house. All the rest residue and remainder of my money goods, chattels, property and effects whatsoever I give devise and bequeath to the said Very Reverend John Ryan in trust to distribute the same to and amongst the poor of St Johns in such manner and in such amounts and at such times as he may think proper, and I do hereby nominate and appoint the said Very Reverend John Ryan Executor of this my will and do revoke all other wills by me heretofore made.
