AFFIDAVIT.
----------

You shall swear that you believe this to be the true last Will and Testament of the Hon. Charles Crowdy late of St. John's in the Central District of Newfoundland, Physician and Surgeon, deceased.

You shall swear that you will pay all the Debts and Legacies of the Deceased, so far as the Goods shall extend and the Law shall bind you; and that you will exhibit a true, full and perfect Inventory of all and every the Goods, Rights and Credits of the deceased, together with a just and true account into the Registry of the Supreme Court of Newfoundland, when you shall be lawfully called thereto: And you shall further swear that the whole of the Goods, Rights, Chattels, Assets, Credits, and Effects of the said Hon. Charles Crowdy, deceased, and of which he died possessed, do not, according to the best of your knowledge, judgment and belief, amount to the value of Nine Thousand Dollars.

So help you God.

After three days application will be made to the Supreme Court or one of the Honourable Judges thereof for letters of probate of the Will of the Honourable Charles Crowdy, late of St. John's, Physician, deceased to be granted to Julia Crowdy of St. John's Executrix named in said will.

Newfoundland or one of the Honourable
Judges thereof.

          The Petition of Julia Crowdy of St John's aforesaid, widow

Humbly Sheweth

          That your Petitioner's husband Charles Crowdy late of St. John's aforesaid, Physician and Surgeon, departed this life on the fourteenth day of March instant having previously made his last Will and Testament hereto annexed by which he appointed your Petitioner executrix thereof.
          That the said Charles Crowdy left him surviving as next of kin your Petitioner and seven children namely Frederic H, Mary L (wife of Wm. Bowen), George J., William H., Elizabeth, Fanny and Charles, all of age.
          That the Estate of said Charles Cowdy at his decease did not exceed Eight Thousand Five Hundred dollars in value.
          That no letters of probate of said will or letters of administration of said Estate have been granted.
          Your Petitioner prays that the said last Will and Testament of the said Charles Crowdy, deceased be admitted to probate and that she be entrusted with the execution thereof.
          And as in duty bound will pray.
          Dated at St. John's this 25th day of March A.D. 1889.

Julia Crowdy of St. John's aforesaid, widow, the petitioner named in the above written petition maketh oath and saith that the several matters and things therein contained are just and true.

          This is the last Will and Testament of me Charles Crowdy of St. John's, Newfoundland, surgeon. I give devise and bequeath unto my beloved wife all my Estate moneys and effects whatsoever and all proceeds of my life insurance to have and enjoy the annual interest and proceeds thereof during her life and on her decease the principal sum shall be divided equally between my unmarried daughters and in case either of my said daughters shall marry, the principal sum shall then go to my unmarried daughter and in case both of my daughters shall marry, the said principal sum shall be divided equally between my three daughters or such of them as shall survive at the marriage of my daughter who shall last marry. I appoint my said wife executrix of this my Will.
Dated at St. John's this twentieth day of January in the year of Our Lord Eighteen Hundred and Eighty Nine.

George M. Johnson of St. John's aforesaid Barrister maketh oath and saith that he was present on the twentieth day of January eighteen hundred and eighty nine at St. John's aforesaid and did see the Honourable Charles Crowdy late of St. John's aforesaid, physician and surgeon, deceased, sign, publish and declare the annexed paper writing marked A as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of this deponent and of Joseph Crowdy of St. John's aforesaid, gentleman, the other subscribing witness thereto. That this Deponent and the said Joseph Crowdy then and there signed their names to such will as such witnesses in the presence of the said Testator and of each other. That at the time of the making of the said Will the said Testator was of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding.
