Dear Sir:
As you advised, I enclose herewith order Supreme Court for Payment of Certain Sums to Mrs. A. Green for her "infant children" from the 14^th of September 1889 to 14^th Sept 1890. There is now due nearly two years allowance and I would like to have amounts settled until year ending 14^th September 1892 as that would save cost of another application. I would respectively submit to the Honorable the Presiding Judge that the amount allowed for Thomas L. Green is small. He attends the Christian Brothers College as a Day Scholar, the fee is $16.00 for year, add to this expenses for books, suitable clothing &c, the amount should in my opinion be increased to $80.00. Frank A. Green also attends the college as a Day Scholar.

The Brothers very kindly relieve him from paying fees but his mother funds the books. I would say his allowance should be to $60.00. It may be said that at that rate of expenditures (their brother has ?? ???? me) the amounts will be reduced when they come of age but looking at the education they are receiving, I think it better in a good education to enable them to fight life's battles usefully and manfully than in a balance of a couple hundred dollars in a bank. And better for many within our recollection had they been put in the world properly educated to earn their bread than to have money of which they did not know the earning placed at their disposal when they reached manhood.
Mary D. Green is now of age, her balance will be paid. I suppose it would be well to take her receipts in the order now applied for.
Fearing you may not be in a position to learn ages, I give you the birth??? of each. Mary D. born 28 Feby 1870

Upon reading the order made herein on June 6, 1890 and the letter from Andrew T. Drysdale, Guardian of the Estates of said Children hereto annexed and upon hearing W. Morison of Counsel for said children, I do order that the said Guardian do pay to Lucy Ann Green, mother of said children the following sums annually to be applied as follows, that is to say, to the support and education of Mary D. Green eighty dollars (2) Henrietta Green eighty dollars (3) Josephine Green eighty dollars (4) Thomas L. Green eighty dollars and (5) Andrew F. Green sixty dollars and that this order shall take effect from the 14^th day of September 1890.
Dated this 25^th day of February A.D. 1890.

The petition of Andrew T. Drysdale of Harbour Grace, Commissioner
of Affidavits

Humbly Sheweth

That Thomas Green late of Harbour Grace in the Northern District of Newfoundland, Clerk of the Peace, died there on or about the sixteenth day of September Anno Domini One thousand eight hundred and eighty nine.
That the said deceased before his death had effected insurance in the Canada Life Insurance Company upon his life to the amount of Four Thousand Dollars under a policy in the said Company numbered 25438 Twenty Five Thousand, Four Hundred and Thirty Eight.
That the said sum of four thousand dollars is according to the terms of the said policy

now payable to the wife and children of said deceased.
That said deceased left him surviving his wife and eight children, five of which children namely viz Mary Drysdale Green aged nineteen years (2) Henrietta aged eighteen years and now resident at Boston in the United States of America (3) Josephine aged fifteen years (4) Thomas Lewis aged thirteen years and (5) Andrew Frances aged ten years, are under the age of twenty one years and are entitled under the said policy to the sum of about one thousand six hundred and fifty dollars.
That no Letters of Guardianship of the estates of the said five infant children of said deceased have been granted to any person.
Petitioner therefore humbly prays that Letters of Guardianship of the estates of the said five infant children may be granted to him.
And as in duty bound he will ever pray &c.

Be it remembered that on this twenty sixth day of November in the fifty third year of the reign of our sovereign Lady Victoria by the grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, Queen, Defender of the Faith &c, and in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty nine Personally appeared Andrew T. Drysdale of Harbour Grace in the Northern District of Newfoundland, Commissioner of Affidavits, John Strappe of Harbour Grace, planter and John Hogan of the same place, victualler and did acknowledge themselves to be held and formally bound to Our said Lady the Queen, Her Heirs and Successors, in the Penal Sum of Three Thousand five hundred dollars of good and lawful money of Newfoundland to be had, made and levied on their Goods, Chattels and Effects jointly and severally if default is made in any of the conditions following:

Now the Condition of this Obligation is such that if the above bounden Andrew T. Drysdale shall duly and faithfully act as Guardian of the Estates and Effects

of Mary Drysdale Green, Henrietta Green, Josephine Green, Thomas Lewis Green and Andrew Francis Green, children of Thomas Green late of Harbour Grace aforesaid, Clerk of the Peace, deceased, Minors under the age of twenty one years and shall and do pay and dispose of such Estates in such manner as the Court shall direct, then this obligation to be void and of no effect or else to be and remain in full force and virtue.
