St. Johns To Wit          I William B. Ireland of the Goulds near St. Johns in the Central District of Newfoundland, do swear that I believe this to be the true Last Will and Testament of Thomas Williams late of the Goulds aforesaid Farmer deceased I do further swear that I will pay all the Debts and Legacies of the said deceased so far as his Goods shall extend, and the law shall bind me, and that I will exhibit a full, true and perfect Inventory of all and every the Goods, Rights and Credits of the deceased, together with a just and true account into the Registry of the Supreme Court of Newfoundland, when I shall be lawfully called thereto. And I do further swear that the whole of the Goods, Rights, Chattels, Assets, Credits and Effects of the said Thomas Williams deceased, and of which he died possessed, do not, according to the best of my knowledge, judgment and belief, amount to the value of Eight hundred and fifty dollars

So help me God

A

          This is the last Will and Testament of me Thomas Williams The Goulds, Petty Harbor, Farmer, hereby revoking all other and former wills by me at any time made. I desire that my just debts, funeral and testamentary expenses shall be first paid by my Executor hereinafter named. I give, devise and bequeath to my wife, Elizabeth, all the farm land and the dwelling house and outhouse at present occupied by me, also my money, furniture, live stock, chattels? and other effects of which I shall die possessed during this life and after the decease of my said wife, Elizabeth, I give, devise and bequeath the said farm land dwelling house, outhouses, furniture and livestock which may be left, chattels and other effects to William Jnogridge?, son of ??? Jnogridge? on the express condition that he, the said William Jnogridge? shall, during the life of my said wife, Elizabeth, work and cultivate my farm land and care and look after my sons? livestock free? of charge and also do whatever is necessary for the comfort, support and maintenance of my said wife Elizabeth. I will and desire that the said William Jnogridge? shall live with my said wife Elizabeth. I appoint William B. Taland? of The Goulds cabinet maker Executor of this my will

St. John's To Wit          I Michael Philip? of St. Johns Solicitor make oath and say that on the 30th day of June A.D. one thousand eight hundred and ninety six I was present and did see Thomas Williams late of Goulds, Petty Harbor the Testator named in the paper writing hereunto annexed, marked A, duly sign publish and declare the said annexed paper writing as and for his last Will and Testament, in my presence and in the presence of Henry Elington and William B. Ireland the other subscribing witnesses thereto. That I and said Henry Elington and William B. Ireland then and there signed our names to such Will as such witnesses, in the presence of the said Testator and of each other, and that at the time of the said execution of the said Will the said Testator was of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding, to the best of Deponent's knowledge and belief.

In the Honourable the Supreme Court or to one of the Honourable the Judges thereof.

The Petition of William B. Ireland of the Goulds Farmer respectfully sheweth as follows :-

  1. Thomas Williams late of the Goulds Farmer died there on the 16th day of January instant having previously executed his last Will and Testament which is hereto annexed marked "A".
  2. The said deceased for and by his said Will appointed your petitioner sole Executor.
  3. The said deceased at the time of his death was possessed of property of the probable value of $800.
  4. No probate of Will or letters of administration of the estate of said deceased have been previously applied for.

          Your Petitioner therefore prays that probate of the Will of said deceased may be granted to him.
          And as in duty bound will ever pray.
          Dated at St. Johns this 21st day of January A.D. 1899.
