NEWFOUNDLAND
Hearts Content
To Wit         I Robert George of Hearts Content, fisherman, do swear that I believe this to be the true Last Will and Testament of Mark George, late of Hearts Content aforesaid telegraph operator deceased. I do further swear that I will pay all the Debts and Legacies of the said deceased so far as his Goods shall extend, and the law shall bind me, and that I will exhibit a full, true and perfect Inventory of all and every the Goods, Rights and Credits of the deceased, together with a just and true account into the Registry of the Supreme Court of Newfoundland, when I shall be lawfully called thereto. And I do further swear that the whole of the Goods, Rights, Chattels, Assets, Credits and Effects of the said Mark George, deceased, and of which he died possessed, do not, according to the best of my knowledge, judgment and belief, amount to the value of two thousand five hundred dollars.

Notice

After three days application will be made to the Supreme Court or to one of the Judges thereof for letters of Probate to the Will of Mark George late of Hearts Content telegraph operator deceased to be granted to Robert George of Hearts Content aforesaid, father of the deceased, executor named in the will.

         The petition of Robert George of Hearts Content in Trinity Bay, fisherman,

Humbly Sheweth

  1. That your petitioner's son, Mark George, late of Hearts content aforesaid telegraph operator (but lately residing in the State of Colorado in the United States died at Denver in the said State of Colorado, United States on/or about the 24th day of February A.D. 1900 having previously made and published his last will and testament which is hereunto annexed marked (A) and codicil thereto appended? hereto annexed marked (B).
  2. That by the said will the said Mark George appointed your petitioner executor thereof.
  3. That no letters of probate of said Will or of administration of the Estate of the said late Mark George have been granted.
  4. That the Estate of the said late Mark George consisted of monies payable under two policies of insurance Effected? on his life with the Provident Clerk's? Mutual Life Insurance Corporation in the sum of £ 300 and £ 200 respectively.

         Your Petitioner prays that the said Will and codicil may be admitted to probate and that he be Entrusted with the Execution thereof.

I Charles H. Tranfield? of Hearts Content aforesaid. telegraph operator, make oath and say that on the 10th day of October A.D. One Thousand Eight Hundred and ninety eight at Hearts Content, aforesaid, I was present and did see Mark George late of Hearts Content aforesaid the Testator named in the paper writing hereunto annexed marked A, duly sign, publish and declare the said annexed paper writing as and for his last Will and Testament, in my presence and in the presence of John F. Richards of Hearts Content aforesaid telegraph operator the other subscribing witness thereto. That I and said John F. Richards then and there signed our names to such Will as such witnesses, in the presence of the said Testator and of each other, and that at the time of the said execution of the said Will the said Testator was of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding, to the best of my knowledge and belief.

Richards of Hearts Content aforesaid telegraph operator the other subscribing witness thereto. That I and said John F. Richards then and there signed our names to such Willcodicil (C.G.R.) as such witnesses, in the presence of the said Testator and of each other, and that at the time of the said execution of the said Willcodicil (C.G.R.) the said Testator was of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding, to the best of my knowledge and belief.

This is the last will of me Mark George of Hearts Content Trinity Bay Newfoundland.
I devise and bequeath all my estate and effects real and personal which I may die possessed of, or entitled to, unto my father Robert George absolutely and I appoint my said Father, Robert George, executor of this my Will, and I revoke all former Will and Codicils.

          Dated at Hearts Content Newfoundland this tenth day of October 1898
