Emma Garrett

This is the last will and testament of me Emma Garrett, of St. John's in the Island of Newfoundland, Widow.
I appoint Joseph Dewling of St. John's, aforesaid, the executor and trustee of this my last Will and Testament.
I give devise and bequeath to my executor all property of every description of which I may die possessed TO HOLD the same IN TRUST for the purposes hereinafter mentioned; to pay the sum of three hundred dollars yearly, and every year, for the support and maintenance of my daughter Elisa Garrett, a person of unsound mind now confined to the Lunatic Assylum, St. John's, and TO HOLD the balance of my said property IN TRUST for my two daughters, Lauretta Fox McFarland, and Emily Rebecca Dewling to pay to them the income of the said balance.
Upon the death of either of my said daughters, Lauretta Fox McFarland and Emily Rebecca Dewling the share of the property hereby devised to her, shall become the sole and separate estate of the children of such daughters respectively free and clear of any claim which the husbands of said daughters may have thereupon.
If either of my said daughters shall not leave a child or children surviving her, her share of the property shall pass to her husband absolutely.
It is my will and desire that my daughter Emily Rebecca Dewling shall be permitted to live, rent free, in my house known as "Slate House" for a period of two years from my decease.
