Will of Jeremiah Harvey
from the Newfoundland will books volume 15 page 21 probate year 1929

IN RE
     JEREMIAH HARVEY.       DECEASED.

I Jeremiah Harvey of Crabbes in the district of St. George, being of sound mind & memory, do make & declare this my last Will & Testament.
I give & bequeath to my wife Susanna half of the Dwelling house, & the land on which it is built, to be hers until her death, after which her share of the same will go to my son Clarence. If, however my wife should re-marry at any time, her share will go to my son Clarence at once from the day of her marriage.
The other half of the dwelling house & land on which it is built I give & bequeath to my son Clarence.
The building now used as a shop I give & bequeath to my son Thomas Harvey.
The 76 acres of land granted land up the river are to be divided equally between my three children, Winnie, Clarence & Thomas. Should my Insurance Policy with the New York Life fall due after my death, the proceeds of it must be divided equally between my wife Susanna, and my daughter Winnie & my son Clarence.
The organ in the dwelling house is for my daughter Winnie.
The sum of fifty dollars is to be taken from the proceeds of my property to put a tombstone to my memory in the graveyard.
All other property, as land not already mentioned, household effects, stock in the shop, money (if any), and everything else of which I am owner at my death, must be divided equally between my daughter Winnie & my son Clarence.
I hereby appoint Mr. Gilbert Gosse and Mr. John Ed Morris as executors of this my last Will & Testament to which I sign my hand this 19th day of February one thousand nine hundred & Fourteen

Note: The wills in those will books are NOT actual wills. They are hand-written copies of a, "last will and testament," written by the court clerk, after the death of the testator, when the executor presented them to the court for probate. The court clerk didn't list the signatures at the bottom, he (or she) just put them in the book in whatever order they were in, on the original document, no spacing most of the time, no punctuation. The originals were kept by the executor.

We who have typed these wills, have made every effort to include all the errors that were on the microfilm, in order to avoid destroying the integrity of the originals, where ever they may be.
