Will of Samuel Kennedy In re Samuel Kennedy deceased In the name of God Amen. I Samuel Kennedy of Trepassey in the District of Placentia and St. Marys [Farmer] do now(?) and declare this to be my last Will and Testament. I will and bequeath to my wife Susane Kennedy my dwelling house and all my outhouses, and all my land cultivated and uncultivated. I will and bequeath that after my wife's death my dwelling house and all my outhouses shall go to my nephew Cornelius Kennedy of Edward. I will and bequeath that after my wife's death all my land shall go to my nephew Cornelius Kennedy of Edward excepting half the cow pen on the hill which I will give to John Kennedy of Patrick. And excepting half my long meadow [situated next to my brother Matthew's meadow] of which I will the upper or North half to my niece Bridget M. Kennedy of Matthew. And excepting land down on the Public Road known as the Farm of which I will and bequeath all my right and title to Susana Kennedy wife of John Kennedy. I will and bequeath to Cornelius Kennedy son of Edward all my right to Fish making Beach. I will and bequeath my cow to my wife while she lives, and after my wife's death I will the cow go to Cornelius Kennedy of Edward. I will and bequeath my horse, carriage, sleigh, slide, harness, and all other implements and chattels to Cornelius Kennedy of Edward. I will and bequeath to the Parish Priest of Trepassey one hundred dollars $100.00 for Requiem masses for the repose of my soul. I will and bequeath to the Parish Priest of Trepassey fifty dollars $50.00 for the relief of the suffering souls in Purgatory. I will and bequeath to the Parish Priest of Trepassey fifty dollars $50.00 for Requiem masses for the repose of my wife's soul. I will ten dollars for masses for my parents, and all my brothers and sisters. I will four $4.00 to the Parish Priest of Trepassey for Requiem masses for the repose of the soul of Patrick Duffy. I will ten $10.00 to the Nuns of Trepassey Convent.

Note: The wills in those will books are NOT actual wills. They are hand-written copies of a, "last will and testament," written by the court clerk, after the death of the testator, when the executor presented them to the court for probate. The court clerk didn't list the signatures at the bottom, he (or she) just put them in the book in whatever order they were in, on the original document, no spacing most of the time, no punctuation. The originals were kept by the executor.
We who have typed these wills, have made every effort to include all the errors that were on the microfilm, in order to avoid destroying the integrity of the originals, where ever they may be. |
