Last will and Testament of
Edward Leary of St. John’s
Farmer deceased

      This is the last will and Testament of me Edward Leary of the Freshwater Road Farmer I devise and bequeath all the real and personal property to which I shall or may be entitled to at the time of my decease unto my beloved wife Ellen Leary during her life time and after her decease such of my children as shall be surviving her, shall share and share alike in my said property - And I appoint my said wife sole Executrix of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all other testamentary writings. I also will and direct that my said Executrix shall when convenient for her pay out of my said estate unto my widow sister Elizabeth English the sum of Forty eight dollars for masses for my deceased uncle Patrick Quirk and my deceased aunt Bridget Quirk.
In witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed and set my hand at St. John’s this eighteenth day of September A.D. eighteen hundred and ninety eight (sgd) Edward his X mark Leary. Signed by the said Testator Edward Leary as and for his last will and Testament in the presence of us, who at his request and in his presence and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as witnesses having been first read over and explained to the said testator Edward Leary.
