Will of Henry W. LeMessurier, from Newfoundland will books volume 15 page 434 probate year 1931

IN RE.                              DECEASED

Henry W. LeMessurier.

This is the last will and testament of me Henry W. LeMessurier of Saint John's Deputy Minister of Customs.

  1. I appoint my son Hugh LeMessurier and The Eastern Trust Company executors of this my will.
  2. I give devise and bequeath to my said son Hugh LeMessurier all my share estate and interest in the property known as Hutchings Estate absolutely and forever; also my King Charles Silver Cup and all my silverware and books.
  3. I give and bequeath to my daughter Mabel the sum of five hundred dollars; to my daughter Marion the sum of five hundred dollars; to my grand-daughter Elizabeth Jane daughter of my late son Arthur the sum of five hundred dollars; to my grand-son Hugh Shelley son of my said son Hugh the sum of five hundred dollars.
  4. All the rest residue and remainder of my estate I give devise and bequeath as follows: to my said son Hugh one half; to Mame LeMessurier widow of my late son Arthur (if she shall be alive and unmarried at my death) one fourth; and to my said grand-daughter Elizabeth Jane one fourth. Provided that should the said Mame LeMessurier remarry or die before my death then the share which would otherwise have gone to her shall go to my said grand-daughter Elizabeth Jane in addition to the one fourth bequested to her. The bequests in this clause are additional to any previous bequests to any or either of the beneficiaries.
  5. I give my executors power to continue any investments which I may have at my death and to vary the same; and to invest upon the security of mortgages of landed property in or near Saint John's.

Witness my hand at St John's aforesaid this fourth day of June Anno Domini one thousand nine hundred and thirty.

SIGNED PUBLISHED AND DECLARED by the said testator as and for his last will and testament in the presence of us who at his request in his presence and in the presence of each other (all present at the same time) have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses.

I give to my son Hugh my wireless set and my gramaphone and records and to Claire his wife my piano.
