from Newfoundland will books volume 7 page 501 probate year 1905

Lewis Sophia       Last will of

I Sophia Lewis widow of the late Robert Lewis of Bonne Bay Dist of St. Barbe Newfoundland being of sound reason of mind do hereby make my last will and Testament and I do hereby by these presents revoke all former wills and Testaments and I hereby bequeath all my land dwelling house, household furniture and half of my ready money unto my son Robert. The other half of my ready money and all other parts of my real and personal estate to my daughter Maud for her schooling subject only to the payment of my just debts, Funeral, double headstone, charges of proving this my will. And I appoint my brother Charles Read Executor to this my will.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twelfth day of June one thousand nine hundred and five 1905 Sophia Lewis (LS)    Witness    Thomas T. Garcin(?)     F.G. Cox.

Note: The wills in those will books are NOT actual wills. They are hand-written copies of a, "last will and testament," written by the court clerk, after the death of the testator, when the executor presented them to the court for probate. The court clerk didn't list the signatures at the bottom, he (or she) just put them in the book in whatever order they were in, on the original document, no spacing most of the time, no punctuation. The originals were kept by the executor.

We who have typed these wills, have made every effort to include all the errors that were on the microfilm, in order to avoid destroying the integrity of the originals, where ever they may be.
