Will of Thomas Nurse In the Estate of The following is a rough sketch of my property in Newfoundland. The house in which my wife now lives together with the furniture and the property in the shop. The Field on the Barrens in possession of Mr. Robert Brine. The land lying N. west of the New Garrison in possession of John Brine and a field on the opposite side. The houses and land leased to Thomas Ryall. The two houses which Colford and John O'Donnell leased from me and the ground belonging to them. And it is my wish that in case of my death that Mrs. Nurse (my wife) shou'd be possessed of the whole of the above property during her life and that after her death it shou'd be divided equally between my three children Sarah Elizabeth and Jabez Nurse. | Note: The wills in those will books are NOT actual wills. They are hand-written copies of a, "last will and testament," written by the court clerk, after the death of the testator, when the executor presented them to the court for probate. The court clerk didn't list the signatures at the bottom, he (or she) just put them in the book in whatever order they were in, on the original document, no spacing most of the time, no punctuation. The originals were kept by the executor. We who have typed these wills, have made every effort to include all the errors that were on the microfilm, in order to avoid destroying the integrity of the originals, where ever they may be. |
