THE PETITION of JOSEPH JAMES BISHOP of St. John's
HUMBLY SHOWETH as follows:

Your Petitioner's father Jacob Bishop late of
St. John's Tradesman died at that Place on the Third day of January
1933 after having first made his Last Will and Testament which
is hereto annexed marked "A"

By his said Last Will the said Deceased appointed your Petitioner
Executor Thereof.

The said Deceased left property within the Jurisdiction of this
Honourable Court of the probable value of Two Thousand Dollars
($2000.00) as more particularly appears in the Inventory hereto
annexed marked "B”

NEITHER PROBATE TO ANY LAST WILL NOR LETTERS OF ADMINISTRATION
have as yet been Granted to any person.
YOUR PETITIONER THEREFORE HUMBLY PRAYS that the Honourable Court or
your Lordship
May be pleased to grant him Letters of Probate to the Estate of the
said Deceased
AND AS IN DUTY BOUND HE WILL EVER PRAY

Brinton of St. John's, in the District

the island of Newfoundland, make
oath and say, that on the [sic] day
of [sic] A.D.,
One thousand [sic] hundred
and [sic] ,
I was present and did see Jacob
Bishop Tradesman late
of St.
John's in
the District of St. John's East ,
in the Island aforesaid, the Testator named
in the paper writing hereunto annexed, marked A, duly sign publish
and declare the said annexed paper writing as and for his last
Will and Testament in my presence, and in the presence of William
Tulk The
other subscribing witness
thereto. That
I and said Jacob Brinton [sic] then
and there signed our names to such Will as such Witnesses, in the presence
of the said Testator And
that at the same time of the said execution of the said Will of the
said Testator was
of sound and disposing mind, memory, and understanding, to the best
of my knowledge and belief.

Will and Testament and dispose of my property as herein followeth:
- To my Son, Lewis Ralph Bishop, the sum of $100.00
- To my Son, Edward I. Bishop, the sum of $100.00
- To my Daughter, Susannah (Bishop) the sum of $100.00
Dorothy [sic]
- To my Daughter, Minnie Wheeler, the sum of $200.00
- To my Son, Joseph James Bishop I give and bequeath
the residue of my Estate and personal effects absolutely.
- My Wife to live with my son, Joseph James Bishop, Until
her Death or re-marriage.
I hereby appoint my son, Joseph James Bishop, My
Sole Executor.

make oath and say that JACOB
BISHOP LATE
OF St.
John's ,
in the District of St
John' s East Tradesman deceased
died with a Will, that I am Executor therein
named; that I will well and faithfully administer the estate and effect
of the testatator [sic] by paying his just
debts and the legacies contained in his Will so
far as the same shall thereto extend and the law bind me, and by distributing
the residue (if any) of the said estate and effects according to law;
that I will exhibit under oath a true, full and perfect inventory of
all and singular the estate and effects of the testatator [sic]
, and render
a just and true account thereof whenever required by law so to do;
that the testaator [sic] died at St. John's on
the Third day of January ,
one thousand nine hundred AND
Thirty-three. and
that the gross value of the estate and effects of the said testator is Two
Thousand Dollars dollars,
and no more, according to the best of my knowledge, information and
belief.
