The Will of Edward Pudner of Bonavista - 1819 From The Prerogative Court of Canterbury
I Edward Pudner of Topsham in the county of Devon but now residing at Bonavista in the island of Newfoundland in North America being of sound and collected mind but mindful of the uncertainty of human life and in order to prevent any dispute or doublt arising from my decease as to the disposition of the property it has pleased God to endow me with do make and publish these my last will and testament in manner following. To my loving wife Mary Pudner I give and bequeath all that plantation or fishing room situate lying and being at Bonavista aforesaid commonly called or known by the name Sheppards room lately purchased by me from Mr. Benjamin Lester and Co. with all the erections and appurtances there onto belonging to to have and to hold the same during her natural life and it is my desire and wish that she shall leave the same by will to whoever she shall please to favour with it at her decease also every part and parcel of my household furniture goods chattels plate and silver. To my loving sister Esther White of Topsham but now residing at Greenwich I give devise bequeath the sum of one hundred pounds of lawful money of Great Britain to to have the same to her own proper use for ever to be paid her by my executors herein after named within twelve calendar months after my decease. To my niece Fanny White oldest daughter of the aforesaid Esther White or by what ever name she may be known or called I give devise and bequeath the sum of fifty pounds of lawful money of Great Britain to have and to hold the same to her own proper use for ever to be paid by my executors within twelve calender months after my decease. To my niece Sophia White second daughter of the aforesaid Esther White or by whatever name she may be known or called I give devise and bequeath the sum of fifty pounds of lawful money of Great Britain to have and to hold the same to her own proper use for ever to be paid by my executors with in twelve calendar months after my decease To my surviving nephews and nieces sons and daughters of my sister Ann White deceased I give and bequeath to each and every surviving one after my decease the sum of fifty pounds of lawful money of Great Britain to have and to hold the same to their own proper use forever to be paid them by my executors within twelve calendar months after my decease. To Andrew Tavenor of Trinity oldest son of Andrew and Catherine Tavenor I give and bequeath the sum of fifty pounds of lawful money of Great Britain to have and to hold the same to his own proper use forever to be paid by my executers within twelve calendar months after my decease. Signed sealed and published and so ordered by the said testator as for to be his last will and testament in presence of us who in his presence and in the presence of each other have here on to set our names as witnesses thereof Proved at London 7th January 1819 before the Judge by the oath of George Garland Esquire and Joseph White ????? here to for Joseph White ?????? Esquire The surviving executore to whom admon was granted being first sworn ( by cannon ) only to administer Transcriber notes Edward Pudner was to the best of my knowledge a ships captain who sailed from Newfoundland to England and elsewhere
