Will of Mary Penney from Newfoundland will books volume 5 pages 193-194 probate year 1888. Last will and Testament of Mary I Mary Penney (relict of the late William Penney) of Carbonear in the Island of Newfoundland being sick and weak of body but of sound mind and memory do make and ordain this my last will and testament I give and bequeath the sum of one thousand dollars to be divided equally 2nd. To my granddaughter Mary Grace Powell I give and bequeath two hundred dollars $200.00 desiring that her father Joseph Powell hold the same in trust for her until her marriage or on her attaining the age of 30 years. In the event of her father's death before that period the money to pass into her own possession. 3rd. To my son Josiah Penny I give and bequeath the sum of two hundred dollars $200.00 to be held in trust by him for the education of his children 4th. To my son Alfred Penny I give and bequeath all my household furniture. And I do hereby declare all or any other documents purporting or declaring to be my last will and testament to be null and void declaring this and this only to be my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereto affixed my hand and seal in the presence of the undersigned witnesses at Carbonear on this ninth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty eight - Mary her x mark Penney - (LS). The said Mary Penney on the said 6th day of January 1888 signed sealed published and declared the above to be her last will and testament in our presence and we at her request and in her presence and in the presence of each other have hereto subscribed our names as witnesses thereto - Aubrey J.
