John Phillips

Twillingate
July 19th 1926

This is the last Will and Testament of me, John Phillips, Fisherman, of Twillingate. Thereby appoint Thomas Ashbourne of Twillingate as my executor of this will. I hereby revoke all previous wills by me made. I hereby instruct the Executor to first of all pay my Testamentary and Funeral expenses. I hereby direct that the money on loan to the Notre Dame Bay Memorial Hospital due me, the money I have in the Bank and the money due me by Ashbourne Ltd be paid one half to my wife, Dorcas Phillips, and the other half to my Daughter Zola Cooper. I give and bequeath to Arthur Roberts my silver watch. The land that I occupy is to be occupied by my wife until her death or remarriage. Upon her (my wife) death or remarrying this said land I give and bequeath to my daughter Zola Cooper and to her heirs forever. In case my daughter Zola Cooper pre-deceases my wife then this land is to revert, after my widows death to my brother Frederick Phillips or in case of his death to his sons. My wife is to live in my dwelling house and occupy the outhouses as long as she wishes to do so, providing she does not marry again. On her death the dwelling house and outhouses are to be the property of my daughter Zola PhillipsJ.P Cooper. I give and bequeath unto my daughter Zola Cooper my part of all unoccupied land. I make the following bequests;- The Lady's Cane Chair to Zola Cooper and one to Mrs Phillips; the Lady's Rocker to Mrs Phillips, the lady's spring bottom chair to Mrs Phillips and the other to Zola Cooper, the mans easy chair to Mrs Phillips, my wife.
