Will of Edward Power
from Newfoundland will books volume 7 pages 52-53 probate year 1901

Last Will and Testament of
Edward Power of Bell Island
Farmer deceased.

      In the name of God Amen.
I Edward Power of Bell Island C.B. N.F. being in my senses make and declare this to be my last will & Testament.
First. I give bequeath and devise to my wife Catherine Power until her demise all my property real and personal.
Second. After the death of said Catherine Power, the estate to be divided as follows: To my son Thomas Power I give devise and bequeath my real and personal property at the homestead on the Island, provided said Thomas Power will not dispose of any said property, except to his sister Mary Joe Dwyer of Bell Island also. Further, to my daughter Mary Joe Dwyer I bequeath that part of my estate situated at Long Har?? and at the Beach Bell Island, with same provision on her part not to sell except to said Thomas Power my son. Also in the event of my son Thomas Power dying without heir the property which was left him by this will cannot be sold to outsiders. The said Mary Joe Dwyer may obtain for a just compensation for said property. Given at Bell Island fifth day of October, eighteen hundred & ninety nine (1899) (Signed) Edward Power. Signed in our presence by the Testator and by us in his presence. (Sgd) J. J. McGrath P.P. (Sgd) William Power. Witnesses.

      I certify the foregoing to be a correct copy of the last will and Testament of Edward Power deceased
