The last Will and Testament of
William Reid late of St. John's
Planter, deceased.
This is the last will and testament of me William
Reid of St. John's, Planter.
First. It is my will and desire that
my executors hereinafter appointed shall pay all my just debts funeral and
expenses. Second I devise and bequeath to my wife Harriet Jane all
the land now held and occupied by me situate on the south side of Pleasant
Street in St. John's aforesaid together with the dwelling house outhouses and
other erections thereon and all my household goods furniture and effects contained
therein save and except the piano and the furniture in the bedroom now occupied
by my daughter Jessie. To have and to hold the same unto my said wife for and
during her natural life and upon the death of my said wife it is my will and
desire that the said land dwelling house outhouses and erections together with
the furniture shall go to and be the exclusive property of my son Walter.
Third.
I will and bequeath to my said wife all monies which I may die possessed of
including the sum of two hundred and fifty dollars to be paid annually by my
son William Henry Reid for the space of ten years from the date of my decease
unto my said wife. This payment of two hundred and fifty dollars each year
for the said ten years is to be made by him in consideration of my assigning
over to him my interest in the business lease carried on under the style of
W. & W.H. Reid.
Fourth. It is my will and desire that at the
death of my said wife all monies of my estate including any unpaid portion
of the said yearly instalment of two hundred and fifty dollars to be paid by
the said William Henry Reid, shall be paid be divided in equal shares between
my sons Walter and Edward and my daughter Jessie. Fifth. I will and
bequeath to my said Jessie the piano now in my said house together with the
furniture of the bedroom occupied by my said daughter. Sixth. I hereby
constitute and appoint my wife Harriet Jane and my son Walter executrix and
executor of this my last will and testament.
Lastly. I hereby revoke
and declare null and void all other or former wills or paper writings that
may have been made by me. Witness my hand at St. John's this 27th day
of May A.D. 1900. William his x mark Reid. Signed published
and declared by the said testator as and for his last will and testament in
our presence who in his presence at his request and in the presence of each
other have hereunto our hands set and subscribed as witnesses having been first
read over and explained.
