Will of Francis A. Sayles, from Newfoundland will books volume 15 page 427 probate year 1931

IN RE.                          DECEASED

Francis A. Sayles.

This is the last will and testament of me Francis Austin Sayles at present living at 9 Causeway Arundel
I appoint Mr F. Hammond Clark of London solicitor and Miss Alice E. Whiting of Arundel executor and executrix of this my will - after my death it may be necessary to sell a portion of my estate to pay any debts I may owe and any testimony funeral and other claims which may be due from my estate - Lloyds Bank Arundel holds securities on which they have no lieu whatever - my estate being cleared of all claims
I leave to my executor two hundred and twenty five pounds £225- and my executrix one hundred pounds £100 These two payments to take precedence of any dispositions whatever- I leave to my executor 25 ounces of silver spoons and forks and he may select any 3 engravings he cares to have- I leave to my executrix the rest of the contents of this house not being cash or bonds- I leave to Miss Annie Howlett of Easten Hants forty pounds to Mr Frank Walker (if alive) twenty five pounds to Miss M. Stone and her sister ten pounds each- these Miss Stones live in the High Street Arundel well known to my executrix- To Mr Hobbs (son in law of the late Mrs Simmons of 62 Talgarth Road West Kensington- twenty five pounds- To Miss Lasseter of No 7 Causeway Arundel thirty pounds - all legacies to be free of Legacy duty- My small property in Newfoundland to be sold and the amount obtained to be divided between my executor and executrix the share of the latter added to the fund for the purchase of annuities Annuities for the benefit of my executrix may be purchased in a post office annuity and in a good English Company also in a good Canadian one in equal parts- and Alice E. Whiting shall not alienate or capitalise these annuities under any circumstances whatever for her own benefit or that of any other person - and I leave her my best thanks for her long careful and patient services to my brother my mother my sister and myself. To enable my executrix to live comfortably until the annuities fructify the estate must set aside a reasonable sum for this purpose
