Looking for my Great great grandfather who was born in Carbonear, NF on Sept. 23,1818 and died on February 3, 1907 in Bonnie Bay NF his name is Alfred White. I am trying to find out if he is of native tribe? Ruth Lombardi -Ruth White , Wight |

I do not know what you mean by one of the tribe??? I knew some of the St. John's Wights. My Winsors, Moors, Garlands and a few more families are in the Carbonear Records. They are all Whites in the Church of England Records at Carbonear . I believe the Clergy just mispelled the name to Wight when they went to the West Coast at Bonne Bay and it stuck.
