Predeceased by her husband Malcolm, and son Nelson. PICKETT, Martha Gaye - Passed peacefully away on Saturday, February 23, 2002 in her eighty-seventh year. She was born in Lumsden, spent her childhood in Port Union and lived as a teenager in Worcester, Massachusetts, before returning to Newfoundland. Martha worked for the Federal Government for thirty years as a postal clerk in Bishop's Falls where her husband, Leroy Pickett, served as postmaster. Upon her retirement, she was awarded an honourary life membership in the Postal Heritage Club for her contributions to the postal union. She served, too, on the School Board for the Bishop's Falls Amalgamated School. She especially liked to garden and travel. Martha was a gifted homemaker - vivacious, loving and a joy to be with. Leaving to mourn: her adoring daughter and only child, Sandra (Gunter) Kromm of St. John's; grandchildren Andrea and Eric Penney; two sisters: Lee (Cyril) Harmon of Boston and Nancy (Leslie) Baker of Port Rexton. PYNN, Samuel James - Feb. 17, 1917-July 20, 2002. Passed away suddenly at his home in New Chelsea in the presence of Mahallah his beloved wife of 62 years, Samuel Pynn age 85 years. Predeceased by son Lawrence, 1973; great-granddaughter Hannah Stuckless, 2001 and sister Mary, 1942. Leaving to mourn with many wonderful memories, his children, Louise (Fred) Best, Clarenville, Gerald (Lillian), Hant's Harbour, Hilary (Lucy), Wabush, Mary (Clifford) Winsor, Labrador City, Dennis (Barbara Pynn), St. John's, Wilson (Rita), Wabush, Kevin (Sharon), New Chelsea, Marilyn (Keith) Cooke, St. John's, Wendy (Larry) Dunphy, Carbonear; grandchildren, Joanne, Shawn, Paula, Boyd, Chris, Juanita, Craig, Keith, Jennifer, Hailey, Colin, Megan, Melanie, Nathan and Madison; great-grandchildren, Victoria, Emily, Samantha, Christian and Randy.
