LOCKE, Albert - Passed peacefully away on June 14, 2005, at the Health Sciences Centre, Albert Locke, age 85 years. A veteran of World War II with the Royal Navy and member of Branch 1. Formerly from Lockston, Trinity Bay. Predeceased by his wife Helen in 1997. Leaving to mourn son Eddy (Joanne) and granddaughter Erica, Montreal; sister Elizabeth Miller, St. John's; sisters-in-law: Amy Mudd, Keeseville, New York and Alma Locke, Toronto, ON; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Resting at Carnell's Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, from 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday and Friday. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. from the Carnell Memorial Chapel. Interment to follow at the Field of Honor, Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in Albert's memory may be made to a charity of one's choice.

MARTIN, Beatrice May - Passed peacefully away at Carbonear General Hospital on Sunday, June 12, Beatrice Martin of Heart's Content, age 85 years. Predeceased by sister Veta Polen. Leaving to mourn daughters: Nettie Martin, N.S., Jean (Chuck) Wright, Ont. Christine Chislett; sons: Boyd (Trudi) Martin, Halifax, Derek (Betty) Martin, Mt. Pearl; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister: Betty Pike, Carbonear; step-mother: Lottie Seward, Hearts Content; half brothers: Sterling (Collette) Seward, Gerald (Nancy) Seward, Ont.; half sisters: Phyllis (Cyril) Cull and Florence (Ed), St. George. Also a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Resting at Greens Funeral Home, Winterton. Visitation on Tuesday, 2 pm - 4 pm and 7 pm - 9 pm. Wednesday visitation at St. Marys Anglican Church, Hearts Content 10 am - 12 noon. Funeral service to follow at 2 pm with interment at St. Marys Cemetery. McCARTHY, Robert L. (Rob) - of Bellevue, on Sunday, April 10, 2005, my Husband, our Dad, my Poppy, our Hero, passed away at the Health Science Centre in his 48th year to join the Angels in Heaven. His bravery and determination throughout his life will be admired always. Predceased by his Mom Rosie Jean and niece Melissa Thorne. Left with a lifetime of loving and joyous memories are his wife of 29 years, Joan (nee Smith), son Ronnie (Dana), daughters; Robin (Shane), and Holly and a very precious granddaughter Poppy's girl Abby, father Denis (Kay), brothers; Larry, Gord (Jackie), Derrick (Marie), Duane (Kelly), sisters; Doreen (Dave) Thorne, Trudy (Art) Power, Pauline (Ron) Power, Debbie. Father-in-law, Ron. Mother-in-law Lottie. Sisters-in-law, Lorraine (Larry), Elaine (Roger) Cooper, Lori (Steve). Brother-in-law, David (Tanya), 17 nieces and nephews including a very special nephew, Julian, also a large circle of other relatives and friends, and two stay-at-home best friends, Lacey and Belle. Predeceased by loving wife Hazel Winifred. Leaving to mourn son Albert (Maria); daughters: Louise Mansfield (Len) and Lillian Bursey (Richard): his seven grandchildren: Craig (Jen) and Brett (Amy) Meadus, Dana (Keith) and Stacey Mansfield, Brad (Lesley), Greg (Jennifer) and Melissa Bursey; also sisters-in-law Lillian Clarke and Rhetta Vey and a large circle of relatives and friends. Special thanks to the nurses and staff of 3 south, St. Patrick's Mercy Home for their care and compassion. Meadus, retired teacher; formerly of Grates Cove and Clarenville, age 88 years. Predeceased by her husband Llewellyn; daughter: Josephine Lambert; granddaughter: Wanda Martin; daughter-in-law: Phyllis (nee Lambert) Meadus; her parents and her siblings. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories five sons and three daughters: Melvin (Rita), Blaketown, Charlie (Marcie), British Columbia, Vern (Pearl), Heart's Delight, Harry (Barbara), Blaketown, Lawrence, Blaketown, Marjorie Cooper (Selby), Mississauga, Ont., Florence Newhook (Basil), Barrie, Ont., Phyllis Gulliver (Ira), Dildo; also lovingly remembered by 23 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren; sisters: Effie Miller, New York, Phoebe Martin, British Columbia, Sophie Podonnavitch, Sydney, Nova Scotia; a large number of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 6, 2005 from the St. John Anglican Church, New Bonaventure with interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Trinity, Trinity Bay. Leaving to mourn Maxwell (Verley), New Harbour, David (Sharon), Toronto, Bertha (Brian Switzer), Oshawa; four grandchildren: David, Brian, Destany, Deziree, Ont.; two great-grandchildren: Tegan, Jordan, Ont.; sister Ivy Clarke, St. John's; brother Thomas Warren, Grand Falls; brother-in-law Max (Mary) Moore, St. John's; sister-in-law Annie Warren, Arnold's Cove; also lovingly remembered by a large number of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. NEWHOOK, Emma Elizabeth - December 2, 1900 - February 22, 2005. Passed peacefully away at her daughters' residence, Norman's Cove, Trinity Bay, on Tuesday, February 22, 2005. Emma Elizabeth Newhook (Aunt Amy), aged 104 years. Predeceased by her husband Thomas 1990 and daughter Selina 1936. Left with many loving and cherished memories one son Robert J. Newhook (Winnie), Norman's Cove; six daughters: Louisa Thorne, St. John's, Martha Gould, Montreal, Sarah Newhook (Wallace), Myrtle Baginiski and Maude Watts, all of Toronto, Yvonne Warren, Norman's Cove with whom she resided. Yvonne cared for her with much love and devotion during the past 18 years. Also leaving with special memories are her 17 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren and 29 great-great-grandchildren; many nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. Resting at the Church of the Good Shepherd, Norman's Cove from where the funeral service will be held on Friday, February 25 at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow at the Church of the Good Shepherd Cemetery, Norman's Cove. Predeceased by his parents, Reuben and Maude Oliver; wife Eliza (Milley); three sisters: Lily, Dorothy and Neta; brother Douglas and son-in-law Wilbur. PARDY, Kirby - It is with great sadness that the family of the Late Kirby Pardy announces his passing on Saturday, December 3, 2005, at the Bonavista Hospital in his 84th year. He was predeceased by his parents: Thomas and Laura Pardy; his son-in-law, Ervin Locke; brothers: Ben, Thomas, Jack; and brother-in-law, Gerry O'Connell. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories: wife, Marjorie; three daughters: Barbara Locke, Port Rexton, Joyce (Don) Baker, Shoal Harbour, Darlene (Brad) Norman, Gander; four grandchildren: Wade Locke, Ervin (Cyndy) Locke, Corey Locke (Lindsey Bartlett) and Tyler Norman; and one great-grandson, Ryan Locke; brothers: Alex (Dora), Frank (Adyllis), Rance (Marlene); and sister, Una O'Connell; also many nieces, nephews, family and friends. Predeceased by her husband Peter, May 15, 1992. Leaving to mourn daughter Yvonne Antle (Rod); sons: LeRoy, Newman and Howard; brother Harold Morgan (Susan), Paradise; sister-in-law Gladys Morgan of New Brunswick; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; as well as other relatives and friends. Predeceased by her father William Gordon Dawe; mother Gladys Frances Dawe (Candow) and stepmother Eliza (Lucy) Dawe; sister Doris Murphy; brothers Bill and Fred Dawe and stepbrother Don Candow. Predeceased by parents: May and George Decker of Lanse aux Meadows; sisters: Gladys Pinhorn of Winterton and Vera Pilgrim of St. Lunaire, and brother Kal Decker of Lanse aux Meadows. She leaves to mourn husband Alex, daughter Joanne Oliver (Tony), grandchildren, Matthew and Samantha all of Old Perlican. Sisters: Madge Pinhorn of Winterton, Greta Bessy residing at the seniors home St. Anthony. Brothers Lloyd (Madge) of Lanse aux Meadows, and Sam (Neva) of Griquet. PYNN, Malcolm John (Jack) - Passed peacefully away after a short illness on Tuesday, May 31st at St. Clare's Hospital, age 76 years, formerly of New Melbourne and Portugal Cove. Predeceased by his loving wife, Mary (nee Churchill) and infant daughter. Leaving to mourn: sisters: Evangeline Button (with whom he resided for 21 years) and Jane Adams (Reuben); brother: Stanley Pynn (Annie); sisters-in-law: Jessie Churchill and Elizabeth Greeley; also leaving to mourn a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Rested at Barrett's Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue from 7-9 pm on Wednesday, 2-4 and 7-9 pm on Thursday and 10-12 Noon on Friday. Service took place from Barrett's Chapel on Friday, June 3 at 2 pm. Interment followed at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Donations may be made in his memory to the Heart and Stroke foundation or to a charity of one's choice.
