RODGERS, Alice (Sally) Elizabeth (nee Parrott) - (August 10, 1923 - April 19, 2005). Passed peacefully away at the Palliative Care Unit of the Miller Center in St. John's, NL (formerly of Grand Falls-Windsor and New Perlican, Trinity Bay, NL). Alice was predeceased by her husband Earl William Rodgers in 1999 and infant son Wayne in 1947. Leaving to mourn her loving children: Gordon (Lise), Surprise, AZ, USA, Diane Jennings, Glendale, AZ, USA, Randy, Paul (Ivy), Earl, all of St. John's and Adrian (Emily), Columbus, Ohio; beloved grandchildren: Stephanie (Steve) Collins, Mount Pearl, Sara (Derek) Sheehan, Grand Falls-Windsor, George (Lesia) Jennings, Ottawa, Heidi and Krista Rodgers, Halifax; great-grandchildren: Julia, Mark and Allison Collins, Mount Pearl, Hannah and Andrew Sheehan, Grand Falls-Windsor; sister Florence (Claude) Purchase, Tonawanda, NY; sisters-in-law: Mary Parrott, Niagara Falls, Eleanor (Fred Pynn), Lizzie Rodgers, St. John's and brother-in-law John (Marjorie) Rodgers, St. John's and a large circle of other family and friends. Resting at Carnell's Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road on Wednesday and Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9. Funeral service to take place on Friday, April 22, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. at the Anglican Cathedral, St. John's, NL with interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Forest Road. RUSSELL, Annie Caroline - Passed peacefully away on July 8th, 2005
at the Miller Centre, after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by
her loving husband of 44 years and family. Leaving to mourn her husband,
Leslie, son Earl (Kay), daughters, Sharon (Neil), Paula (Jerry) and son
Robert (Shari). Grandchildren, Mitchell, Samantha, Leslie-ann, Russell,
Sherida, Charles, Gavin, & Brannon. Brothers, Arthur (Marion), Bond
(Barb), sister, Inez (Alphonsus) and a large number of relatives and
friends. Predeceased by parents, Gordon and Elizabeth Rideout. Resting
at Holloway's Funeral Home, Whitbourne. Visitation will take place on
Saturday, July 9th, 10 a.m. - 12 p.m., 2-5 p.m., 7-10 p.m., Sunday, July
10th, 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. Funeral Service at 2:30 p.m., July 10th at the
Salvation Army, Trinity Bay South Corps, Dildo. In lieu of flowers,
donations in her memory may be made to the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer
Clinic.
SHEPPARD, Mary Ann - Passed away peacefully on November 8, 2005, Mary Ann (Annie) Sheppard of Catalina in her 95th year. Predeceased by her husband Gideon. Left with many memories are her daughters: Margaret (Mac Bennett) of Lewisporte, Carol (Bill Mason) of Port Union; grandchildren: Judy (Ted Mercer), Debbie (Wade Colbourne), Mac (Debbie) Bennett, Jeffrey (Charlene) Bennett, Glenn (Jill) Bennett, Greg (Joanne) Bennett, Kirk (Darlene) Mason and 14 great-grandchildren. Funeral Saturday, November 12, 2005 at St. Peter's Anglican Church, Catalina.
SHORT, Wesley- Passed peacefully away at the Harbour Lodge Nursing Home,
Carbonear, on Sunday, February 6, 2005, Wesley Short of Hant's Hr. in his 93rd
year. Leaving to mourn three daughters, Judy (Boyd Hopkins), Daisy (Robert
Burden), Shirley (Alfred Button), one son Carman (Margaret), son-in-law
Stanley Button, twelve grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, brother
Maxwell Short (Joyce), sister-in-law, Doris J. Short. Special niece Daisy (Richard
King), special nephews Harvey Short Sr. and Roy Tuck. Also a large circle of
nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Resting at Green's Funeral Home,

SMITH, Jessie Nina - Of Chance Cove, NL. Passed peacefully away
surrounded by her loving family on July 27, 2005 at the Hoyles-Escasoni
Complex, St. John's. Long term member of the A.C.W.A. Predeceased by her
husband Jacob; son Donald and daughter Marguerite. Left with loving
memories are sons: Everett (Betty), St. Philips, Melvin (Carol), Bellevue Beach;
10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and many cherished friends and
relatives. Resting at the Church of the Ascension, Chance Cove. Visitation

SMITH, Maxwell Gordon Nathan - October 13, 1935 - May 24, 2005. Passed
peacefully away at the Health Sciences Complex on Tuesday, May 24, 2005,
Maxwell Smith of Chance Cove, aged 69 years, 7 months. Leaving to mourn wife:
Elizabeth (Betty), son: Derek; daughter: Connie (Roland) Smith; granddaughter:
Ashley Smith; sister: Doreen Fahey; Also lovingly remembered by a number of

SMITH, Susie Irene (nee Drover) September 5, 1945-July 23, 2005- Passed away
suddenly at the W.H. Newhook Community Health Centre, Whitbourne, on
Saturday, July 23, 2005, of Dildo, formerly of Whitbourne, aged 59 years.
Predeceased by parents Louise and Archibald Drover, husband James Piercey,
mother and father-in-law Minnie and Silas Smith, and brother-in-law Eric
Newhook. Leaving to mourn husband Alfred Smith, son Ralph Piercey (Lisa);
three daughters: Karen Phillips (Jerry), Irene Turner (Leonard), Neta Harris
(Wylie). Six grandchildren: Jamie, Troy, Lynnsey, Crystal, Ryan and Shane. Two
brothers: Hughie Drover (Betty) and Norman Drover (Edna). Mother-in-law
Martha Piercey and Piercey family. Brothers-in-law: Ron (Rebecca) Smith, Ivan

Wilkinson Memorial Hospital, Old Perlican on June 23, 2005, age 61
years. Predeceased by her father Everett; mother Emma; sister Rose
Noseworthy and grandson Tyler Sturge. Leaving to mourn with fond and
loving memories, husband Hayward; son Everett (Arlene); brother
Warrick Squires (Dorthy); brother Charlie Squires (Iris); special friend
Janette Norris; nieces and nephews, and many friends. Many thanks to the

SUTHERLAND, Marguerite P. (nee Smith) - Passed suddenly away at her
home in Victoria, NL on Tuesday, January 18, 2005. Predeceased by father Jacob
E. Smith and brother Donald Smith of Chance Cove. Leaving to mourn husband,
Dr. D. Larry Sutherland, Victoria; three daughters: Janice (Robert) Jackson,
Sudbury, ON, Angela Sutherland (Nick Ameno), Buffalo, NY and Jane Elizabeth
Sutherland, Guelph, ON; one son, Dean Lane (Elaine Bennett), Toronto, ON;

Predeceased by his father Stewart and his brother Stewart Jr. Leaving to mourn his mother Lorraine Chaffey of Eastport, NL; grandmother Belle Hallett of Glovertown, NL; sisters: Donna Marsh (husband Ricky) of Little Heart's Ease, NL, Karen Reed (husband Dave) of Oakville, Ontario, Leigh Turner of Wild Cove, NL; three nieces; six nephews and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
